2011 was a baaaaad year. At least, it went by fast. Glad to see ‘er go.

New Years resolutions… I don’t believe in them. Because I never keep them. So I was happy to see Action for Happiness post suggestions to how to make resolutions, that make you feel good!

Action for Happiness is a movement of people committed to building a happier society. They write about themselves:

“We want to see a fundamentally different way of life where people care less about what they can get for themselves and more about the happiness of others.”

You can read more about Action for Happiness here!

So taken here, I’ve “borrowed” their 10 actions for a happier 2012:

  • Let your family and friends know how much they mean to you
  • Find ways to make exercise fun and sociable
  • Do extra acts of kindness to help others
  • Get outside and enjoy the natural world together
  • Spend more time getting to know your neighbours
  • Take time each day to be ‘mindful’ and notice how you’re feeling
  • Change something that’s been making you or others unhappy
  • Support a good cause you feel passionate about
  • Try something new that puts you outside your comfort zone
  • Write down three good things that happen each day

In 2012 I want to:

1. Find a really great job. One that fulfills my insane amount of criteria. If they can put a man on the moon – that should be doable, right? (“Change something that’s been making you or others unhappy”.)

2. Go to Tuscany at least once for a week. (“Enjoy the natural world”. And then I am going to eat it!)

3. Have a real conversation in French. With a French person. I hope I’m drunk when it happens because damn, je suis rusty. (“Try something new that puts you outside your comfort zone.”)

4. Loose 20 punds. Again. (“Find ways to make exercise fun and sociable”.) They say Zumba is a hoot. Anyone??

5. Yell less. (That would be under: “DON’T Let your family and friends know how much they mean to you.”)

6. See my friends more. I really miss them.   (Álà “Spend more time getting to know your neighbours”.)

7. Write at least 52 posts on www.cindafuckingrella.com – that is one a week. Doable. Just makes me feel good.

8. Spend at least two weekends in European capitals with Hub and NO kids. (Ehmmm: “Support a good cause you feel passionate about”?)

9. Be less of an asshole. Well, it’s all relative. Oh, and speak kindly to myself. Oops.

So, YOU!

Thank you for the passing year. Thank you for every time you “Liked” it, “Shared” it and well – read it.

I hope 2012 surpasses your wildest expectations and becomes you best year to date.

 Love,

Cinda
