I wanted to share a number of my “Style” fetishes with you. This is not ment as advertisement or endorsement – it is just to share some “decorating trends” (haha, as if I am trendy).

Well, if you in any way could be inspired, that would be cool. Otherwise, you can just enjoy the pictures. Or go to an actual “Style Blog” – they’re only a clic away 🙂

BIRDS.

This is a witch hazle branch that I have hanging year round. The branch is pretty in itself,  but at Christmas, I hang ornaments from it and at Easter, I decorate it with porcelain eggs. This picture shows a mix of birds and baubles.

I have a thing with birds.

Even the cat has to put up with my bird fetish.

Porcelain swallow. Came in a set of four. Too cute.

Freeeeee.

I first saw the sticker with the caged bird in a very trendy and cool design store in Seattle, WA. I instantly wanted it! I went to look at it and noticed that it was made in Denmark. Duh – that’s where I live. So I just bought one back home in Copenhagen.  At half the price.

I guess I have a thing with bird cages to. How cool is this chinese-style cage?? (It is sitting on top of a cupboard, usually you can’t see the roll of duct tape in the background there…)

So, enough of the birds. Now on to my next thing.

Boxes.

The other day I was talking to my friend, whose son is autistic. He gets highly anxious if he looses a sense of what is going on, can’t categorize things – can’t “put things into boxes”. So his teacher came up with a concept that really helped him. She told him that in his head, there is a box labeled “Uncategorized”. He got it. And was instantly calmed. Isn’t that cool?

Or – the kid should just come over to my house, ’cause I’ve got boxes all over. 🙂

Boxes AND birds.

Just got these cute drawers for my birthday. The pearls are fake.

Pink and orange. Me likee.

COLOUR CODED COOK BOOKS.

I had to show you my friend’s cooool cook book shelf. She ordered them by color. How neat is that?!

PHOTO ART.

Finally, I wanted to show you how I hung a bunch of old pictures my mother gave me. They are all of family – the oldest are of my great grandparents. I got them all framed in the same black frames and they hang on the wall on the stair case. The different sizes gives it an organic feel that I love.

A few colored photos in between to mix it up.

That’s my parent’s wedding picture. So young! I’m in the crib. Yes, that’s from my modeling days. That picture was in the IKEA catalog in 1977, hahaha.

Final little thing: I found a bunch of driftwood on the beach in Oregon, last time I was there. I love how it has been naturally “sanded”, it is so soft and lovely. My friend Anne helped me drill holes in them and hang it. Yes, it is sticks on a string. I don’t care, I think it is pretty. Every day I look at it and miss the beaches – and people – of Oregon. If you ever get a chance to go there – GO!

If one was really creative, I guess you could make a wind chime…. ??

Just to be clear: I’m wide open for bribes and freebies if you have a product you’d like me to test or endorse…

LOVE what you did with the pictures on the stairs’ wall. Going to imitate your driftwood hanging (since I have some from my favorite beaches lying around) and, while I admire your friend’s style in color-coordinating her cookbooks – I have to wonder about anyone who owns that many cookbooks! 😉

Well. I have way more cook books. What do you think of me NOW?
I love driftwood – pls show me what you make if you get it done… 🙂
      Love, Cinda

I love the bird bauble branch. My daughter is 5, and having some trouble sleeping. She is very dramatic about this “problem,” and asks us, “Doesn’t it break your heart mommy? How can you leave me alone up here?” So we decided together to make something to hang from her ceiling above her bed, (a mobile if you will), for her to look at while she lays in bed. You have inspired me! Stella would be very enamored with something like this, but with fairies or some sort of thing like that.

Hahaha – “Doesn’t it break your heart mommy?” That is SO funny! I am happy to have inspired you and I hope Stella sleeps better. You might also consider sea shells?
      Best,
      Cinda
