My extremely talented (and wonderful) friend animated the short film ‘The Man Without Qualities’, about the entire lifespan of a man from conception to death. The Man is not unlike any other man you might meet, has no special talents or qualities and shows not much initiative. He does not stand out and leads a quiet life as most of us do. We follow him as he grows from child to teenager on to Family Man, Midlifecrisis Man and later Widower.

It is fascinating, sad, hilarious and touching. To me, this little film is an exhibition of pure creativity. The imagery is extremely simple with iconic figures – but so much is shown with so little means.

The film has been shown on film festivals and art museums across the globe and when it was shown on Swedish Television, they received an official complaint from a viewer, who was offended by the “degrading and explicit sexual content”. The Board of Television later ruled that the content of the film did not break any of their rules.

Without further adoo, and for your viewing pleasure – because Cinda loves you:
